Identifying People of Vision

Over the years, I’ve come to recognize that the most effective leaders in God’s Kingdom share something deeper than talent, position, or personality. They are people of vision. Not vision they created on their own, but vision that was placed in them by God.
When I talk about vision, I’m not referring to strategic plans or organizational goals. I’m talking about a deep, unshakable conviction that something must be done. True vision is not manufactured; it is received. It becomes a burden the leader cannot ignore and a calling that shapes every decision they make. (Read the full article here)
I’ve observed that people of vision can come from vastly different backgrounds and cultures, yet they often share the same core characteristics. Their confidence is not rooted in themselves but in God, His Word, and His power to work through ordinary people. They believe deeply that God will accomplish what He has called them to do and that people, when mobilized, can carry the Gospel farther than any single leader ever could.
One of the defining marks of a visionary leader is their commitment to empowerment rather than control. Instead of building rigid hierarchies, they create structures that release people into ministry and make the Gospel accessible at every level. Vision multiplies when leadership is decentralized and ownership is shared.
Vision also demands action. It leads to planning, persistence, and resilience in the face of obstacles. People of vision adapt when necessary, learn from history, and remain accountable in their walk with God. They understand that obedience and discipline are essential if the vision God has given them is going to bear lasting fruit.
Ultimately, vision is not about charisma or capacity. It is about faithfulness. It is about believing that Christ’s mission must advance and being willing to organize, mobilize, and move people toward that end. Programs alone will never fulfill the Great Commission. Movements, built on God-given vision and carried forward by faithful people, will.
