Choices

How much easier life would be if we didn’t have to make choices!!! If those chooses did not also come with consequences! Christians are more aware of the need for choice, warned about the danger in certain choices, and, needful to chose the right direction.

Whether we like it or not, our new birth in Jesus is constantly leading us into a crossroad, a Y moment. James says, “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. James 4:17

If only it was always that easy and that clear of a choice. Too many things can complicate the choice in between pathways, sometimes even between two apparently acceptable ones.

How can we know the difference? First, and the most simple, we always chose what scripture clearly teaches. Not the unclear paths, not the historically debated translations of Bible words and meanings, but the things that are clear evidences of righteousness.

“and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” Forgiving others their offenses against us is not to be debated. True, it is a Y moment and we do have a choice. In this case God, Jesus and salvation all presume our obedience to the word and the Holy Spirit. He who knows this, does it. The consequences are just as sure.

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

There are other decisions that come along that are not as clear. They are not decisions about revealed righteousness, but about decisions that will affect our obedience nonetheless.

Those choices too have a clear pathway, if only we will depend upon the word of God and the Spirit of God.

All roads that go in circles might be going down the drain! Good article….Soldiers don’t make “choices”, they obey their leader. Who is leading ?
