“Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die.” Ezekiel 18:4
“Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord GOD; so turn, and live.” Ezekiel 18:31-32
All souls belong to God for He created them
Each soul is accountable for their own life in response to God’s ownership
We can choose to cast away our sin. That is, we can demonstrate that we realize and reject them by throwing them away from us.
That casting away is connected to a new heart
God has no pleasure in judgment
He has created us to turn from our sin and live.
“And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules” Ezekiel 36:26-27
“Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? Hebrews 12:9
Far better to acknowledge God’s ownership.
Far better to embrace His discipline
Far better to chose life rather suffer eternal separation from Him who created us and owns us.
A simple message with powerful ramifications.
