Recently, I saw a review of one of my books that I thought said it all. Just what I want to hear every time someone reads what I have written. It can be a blog or an article or a book, I don’t care. The key words in this review are “most of the strategies Mr. Smith points out are so obvious…..I would have laughed out loud save for the fact I was so excited to read them that I wanted to take notes.”
In my words, “what I have written is so Biblically obvious that it is not “rocket science!” New and catchy ways to make God “sound better, or more relevant” are all potentially dangerous. At the very least, they reveal a low view of the inspiration and power of Scripture.
I don’t publish with a publisher partially for this reason. I write primarily for myself. Writing helps me think about what scripture says, and, what I believe. I count on the SCP family and friends to share what I have written.
